The "New" Frontier - Internet Radio

Internet radio has actually been around for quite some time.


Regular radio died 20 years ago. The people in the radio industry will sit and debate you all day long about how it's still relevant, and have for 20 years, but it isn't.


What makes internet radio great, not as great as your own playlist, but still cool enough to digest and enjoy it is - personality.


It can offer you human connection, information, new music, etc. - all without the 10 minutes of commercials - every 20 minutes. Radio should've learned from that, but alas, obviously it didn't.


• A Coherent Market Insights estimate values the global internet radio market at USD 3.58 billion in 2025, with growth expected to reach USD 10.62 billion by 2032, implying a robust CAGR of 16.8%


• In contrast, Business Research Insights reports a much larger valuation—USD 44.89 billion in 2024, rising to USD 49.42 billion in 2025, and reaching approximately USD 106 billion by 2033


• A forecast from ToneIsland adds that the broader internet radio market could swell to USD 66.5 billion by 2028, nearly double the current traditional radio market


Despite varying methodologies, all sources indicate internet radio is in a strong and sustained growth phase, with market size projections ranging from tens to hundreds of billions of dollars in the coming years.


And to further prove my point, and to demonstrate that I'm not talking out of my ass:


"According to Edison Research’s “Share of Ear Q2 2025”, in the U.S., AM/FM radio still accounts for just over one-third of total listening time among adults 13+, while digital audio formats (including streaming music, podcasts, web radio, YouTube audio, and satellite) now exceed 50% of listening time"


I did some INTERNET radio drops recently, and I wanted to put them here to let you know, this is one of my favorite genres of audio/imaging to go. I like to go a little bit old school sometimes with ROCK radio drops. That attitude and that sound still gets attention - and it's so much fun to do.


Her name is Jay, and she's an ex radio pro who started an online radio station.
